How tokenland Works
A look under the hood at how we transform traditional illiquid real estate in Mexico into digital fractions that accrue daily rent onchain.
1. Real World Assets (RWA)
We start by acquiring premium properties in high-yield areas (like Mexico City and Tulum). These properties are placed into a specific legal entity (a Mexican Trust or Fideicomiso). This legal structure allows the economic rights of the property (capital appreciation and rental income) to be cleanly divided.
2. Digital Fractions (Tokenization)
The economic rights held by the legal entity are converted into digital tokens on a blockchain (we utilize the Plasma Testnet for this PoC). Each token represents a specific fraction of the property.
By representing fractions as ERC-1155 or ERC-20 tokens, we inherit the security, transparency, and transferability of the underlying blockchain without forcing the end consumer to understand "crypto".
3. Stablecoin Economy (USDT)
To shield users from crypto market volatility, all transactions within tokenland are denominated in USDT (Tether). When properties generate rental income in fiat (MXN/USD), it is programmatically swapped to USDT and streamed to token holders.
Rent is paid by tenants in fiat → Converted to USDT → Distributed via smart contract to wallets holding the property tokens.
4. The Secondary Market
Real estate is notoriously illiquid. In tokenland, because your ownership is a digital token in your wallet, you can list it on our internal marketplace (or any compatible decentralized exchange) at any time.
This allows investors to exit their positions without needing to sell the entire underlying physical property, fundamentally changing the liquidity profile of real estate.
